A quick trip down to London to get some inspiration we went to the Tate Britian to go and see the Vincent Van Gogh exhibition here is what we saw.

A lot of his work was surrounded in sadness and depression, with his people often crying with their heads in their hands. He was unappreciated during life and only sold only 2 paintings whilst alive perhaps that would explain his sad paintings.

His self portraits again were never happy with a solemn look on his face. He used dark and cold colours which add to his sad feel.

His other portraits again have sad faces and one also looks as if she has hurt her hand. The lines he painted were not picture perfect which may have been why people didn’t like the impressionist style as they thought it wasn’t art.

His paintings were much gloomier before he moved to France from Holland.

Van Gogh created 7 versions of the Sunflowers for his friend Paul Gauguin.

In the exhibition his artwork was surrounded by other paintings inspired by his. One day I hope my sunflowers will be hung against his too.

Two of my favourites were Yellow Chryanthernums by Christopher Wood and Honeysuckle and Sweetpeas by Wilfred Nicholson.

The painting differs from Van Gogh's other work as it has hope with it's warm hues and beautiful subject matter. He painted this in Paris whilst living with his brother Theo.

A few other paintings of his were natural and beautiful while some were sad and solemn. His painting of the prison showed how life was filled with people yet so lonely. His night sky was very similar to Starry Night (which was not on show) but this was just as pretty and beautiful in colours.

We had a fab time in London and I really enjoyed the exhibition and we had some amazing burgers while we were out. I would very much recommend a trip before it's over.
